ABOUT ME

Norway, Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park. It’s snowing, the temperature is -16°C, the wind is as sharp as a knife. I’ve been plodding through this melancholy ecosystem of mountains and glaciers for nine hours now.

And then they’re there. Exactly where the slope of the gray hill blends into the somber horizon, a plump musk ox picks her way downwards. Her two calves follow her, about ten meters behind.

Immediately, all my senses are on high alert. Without realizing it, I’ve been looking for this all day. This is the moment...

Welcome to the world of nature photography. My world, and this is how I experience it. My name is Alex Pansier. I’m a nature photographer from the Netherlands, and I am passionate about the stories and the emotions of nature.

The animal and its habitat appeal to me the most, but I am in my element wherever nature tells its stories – with or without animal, whether tiny and in great detail, or enormous and powerful. Even at -16°C.

My style could best be described as pure, minimalist and a little moody. These days I’m increasingly choosing to go high-key or low-key, and I also enjoy losing myself in structures and details. But as an autodidact, I continue to learn, try things out, and discover. So there’s every chance that my portfolio will look a bit different in a while.
