In Misty Majesty, most of the deer is hidden in pale grass. The antlers remain as the clearest form, turning a wildlife encounter into a quiet study of shape and negative space.
Removing the surrounding detail changes how the animal is seen. Its presence stays powerful, even though only a small part of it is visible. The photograph was Highly Commended in the Animal Portraits category at the 2026 British Wildlife Photography Awards.
